memorial day backyard bbq inspiration

Memorial Day is fast approaching, which means the unofficial start to summer, an open invitation to wear white (if you still follow those archaic rules) and the weekend that everyone dusts off their grills, if they haven’t already. I’m especially excited about Memorial Day weekend this year because it will be our first one in the new house. We have a fabulous deck that is just aching to be the site of a Memorial Day BBQ, so this weekend we will be hosting some friends for a traditional Memorial Day cookout.

Our BBQ will be relatively low-key, but I was looking for some inspiration on ways to add a little red, white and blue fun. Here are my favorites:

Backyard BBQ Inspiration

Clockwise from the top:

Gingham linens. Need I say more? { Style Me Pretty }

More gingham & FREE printables! { Hostess With The Mostess }

Watermelon is a must-have at a summer BBQ – why not serve it pre-sliced on a stick? { Celebrations }

Baked beans go so well with burgers and hot dogs, but they can be messy to serve. These individual jars solve that problem.  { Hostess With The Mostess }

These patriotic cones filled with red and blue chips can do double duty for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July if you plan ahead. { Bright Bold & Beautiful }

I’m not sure how comfortable I would be with sparklers around my brand new deck, but for those of you who are more adventurous, what a great place card idea! { Better Homes & Gardens }

I hope you have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day! And while we have been focusing on barbeques and color schemes, let’s take a moment to remember why we have this holiday. I am incredibly grateful to all of those men and women who have given their lives to protect our country and freedom. Thank you for all that you do. God bless!
