Who says kids get to have all the fun themed birthday parties? While we see tons of ideas for cute children’s parties all over Pinterest, there just isn’t much out there for adults. Now I admit that I have this on my mind because it happens to be my birthday, but I thought now was as good a time as any to share some fabulous ideas for fun, themed birthday parties. Enjoy!
I love the idea of a Roaring 20s Birthday Party for someone turning 30 – so long as the guest of honor isn’t bitter about the milestone! This is an easy one for guests because it doesn’t take much to look like a flapper or a gangster. You can even have some props on hand to help guests get into the spirit. With the popularity of the Great Gatsby movie last year, 20s style parties are going to be in vogue for a while. I love this example at Hostess With The Mostess.
Pan-Am Come Fly Away
Remember that terrible TV show Pan Am a while ago? Well the show was terrible but people still like to dress up like 60s era pilots and flight attendants. This is really easy for the guys – just wear a suit and aviators, most women can probably make something work by adding a scarf or a pillbox hat (if you happen to have one of those lying around!). Buy some wing pins and hand them out as guests arrive; play lots of Frank Sinatra and sip on martinis. I love this example by Lynlee’s – you can really play up the airline details!
Alice in Wonderland Un-Birthday Party
For the more adventurous, a whimsical and quirky Alice in Wonderland themed-unbirthday party may be in order. This a fun opportunity to bring in props and bright colors. Guests wouldn’t necessarily need to dress up to fit in. This example by Kara’s Party Ideas will give you some inspiration.
Old Hollywood Film Screening
For a bit of old Hollywood glamour, invite your guests to dress in their finest, and feature old film classics. This example by Design Sponge is more of a backyard picnic and low-key, but you can make it work either way.
Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville Party
It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? This example at Hostess With the Mostess was held at a beach location, but you can recreate the beach in your backyard. There are so many fun lines from the song that could be made into fun details at the party – such as the clock cookies. Tell your guests to wear their beach attire!
