friday favorites – best event ideas of the week

This week’s Friday Favorites are an eclectic mix – from beer bottle labels to baby photos, there are wedding ideas, decor ideas and even a DIY project thrown in! Enjoy!

#5 – Groomsmen Beer Bottle Labels

"Suit Up" will you be my groomsman beer bottle label

Women spend a lot of time figuring out how to ask their female friends and relatives to join their bridal party, with ideas ranging from a heartfelt note and an elaborate, meaningful gift. For most men, it’s much more simple: “So uh, you in?” and so on.  But if men are interested in something a bit more clever, I love these beer labels. So fun! Via Etsy seller Sisters Party Supplies.

#4 – Upside Down Flowers

Who said flowers had to be right side up to be used in decor? Clearly I’m comfortable with flowers at an angle, so why not incorporate them into lighting fixtures and have them hanging down? This is from an exhibit at the Philadelphia Flower Show, via BizBash – definitely click the link if you love floral eye candy, there’s lots in that slideshow!

#3 – DIY Marshmallow Drink Stirrers

DIY marshmallow drink stirrers by Studio DIY

Patterned, striped and chevron straws are all the rage. Stick one in a mason jar and you’re set. But I think novelty drink stirrers are a fun twist on the straw craze. I love this one by Studio DIY – she takes mini marshmallows and dyes them and sticks them on a bamboo skewer. Very easy but very chic! You could use these as a subtle way to infuse a color into your dinner party. I can’t wait to try them myself!

#2 – Sheet Music Table Numbers

sheet music table numbers

There is so much that I love about this table number and centerpiece concept. First, the table number. I love music – what a simple idea to print or write numbers over sheet music. The music could be meaningful to the bride and groom (or not). Second, the centerpiece of wildflowers in different types of bottles is very DIY-friendly. The wood charger and accompanying moss makes it swing into rustic territory, but I like the bottles on their own. I would use this idea while entertaining at home. #1 – Baby Photos for Sweetheart Table

baby photos of bride and groom for sweetheart table

There are all sorts of cute, fun signs for the backs of chairs at the sweetheart table – His and Hers, Mr. and Mrs., Bride and Groom, etc.  But I love this fresh take – instead of signs, this couple had frame baby photos! What a great idea! Lots of couples do slideshows or otherwise incorporate their baby photos into their weddings, this is a more subtle, but unexpected way. I love it!
