friday favorites – best valentine’s day ideas

Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share some of the most fun ideas I’ve come across for the holiday – whether you are hosting a Valentine’s Day fete or just looking to do something special for that special someone, these are some great ideas. And some are even ridiculously easy (cough cough #4). Don’t forget to check out my Valentine’s Day cocktail ideas for fun signature drink ideas.

#5 – DIY Napkin Envelopes

These were designed for a children’s party, but you could easily use these for any affair. Don’t limit yourself to Valentine’s Day either – you could switch out the heart sticker for a fresh flower for a more elegant look, or do something with a vintage postcard. Step by step instructions at Celebrations At Home.

#4  – Banana Valentines (seriously)

I love this because while it’s so incredibly easy, but it’s also really sweet. Yes, it’s just taking a sharpie and writing a cute, sweet message on a banana, but if you surprise someone with this, tuck it in his lunch, you might just make him smile. Via The Sweetest Occasion.

#3 – Pink Ombre Cake

This is a fun cake that’s not Valentine’s Day-specific. You could make this for any occasion that could use a little pink – if I had a daughter that loved pink, I might make this for her birthday. The recipe is at Style Me Pretty Living – I also love that they mention you can cheat by using box mix and adding coloring. Even easier!

#2 – Jessica Rabbit Themed Valentine’s Day Party

So many Valentine’s Day parties are geared toward children – this is a theme that’s perfect for adults. Jessica Rabbit is sultry and fun – this would also be great for Galentine’s Day! See more photos and details at Kara’s Party Ideas – I love the “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way” cookies!

#1 – Eat, Drink & Be Mine Straws

There are lots of cute Valentine’s Day party DIYs in this post by Heart Love Weddings, but my favorite is the pink straws with the “Eat, Drink & Be Mine” flags, which is a play on “Eat, Drink & Be Merry.” Just a tiny detail, but I love it!

Bonus – Adorable Valentine’s Day Cookies
